Flexcart - Making it "Live"

If you are done customizing your new Flexcart, and are ready to have to go "Live" for your clients, there is a quick and simple process you will want to go through :)

If you are a Premium account holder, your template will have a built in 'Proofing'  button in the menu, which is linked to your integrated shopping cart. (For Flash and Blog templates only - Flexsitez instructions below)

What you need to do FIRST is disable that menu button, which can be done within your sitezadmin > Edit Site Menu and Section Content tab > Edit site menu.

To disable the button, you need only toggle the visibility indicator to RED, or inactive.

SECOND, you will want to create a new external link to your Flexcart, which you can do within the Edit Site Menu and Section Content tab > Edit External Links area.

You can set the button name to whatever you would like, as long as there are no / in the button name.

You want to make sure that you add the complete url, including http://www.yourdomain.com/yourcartname

Finally, you will want to return to the Edit Site Menu and Section Content tab > Edit site menu area, and mark your NEW Proofing link GREEN, or active!

MAKE SURE YOU SAVE ALL OF YOUR CHANGES!! :)

Once this is done, the end result will be a new button on your front end, leading your clients to the new Flexcart!

If you have a Flexsitez template, setting the Flexcart "live" is quite simple!

You simply need to activate the FLEXCART CONNECT feature! Here is an article with instructions: http://www.portfoliositez.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=418

If you prefer not to use the Flexcart Connect for one reason or another, you need only link out to the Flexcart:

From your wp-admin, you will want to go to Appearance > Menus, where you will see the Custom Link area. Simply add the URL for your Flexcart, INCLUDING the http:// (for example, http://yourdomain.com/cart), and then the Label, which will be the button NAME (i.e., Proofing, Clients, Cart, etc.), and then click 'Add to Menu'.

Save your menu, and you will now see the button for your Flexcart on the front end!
